City Council to hold budget hearing Oct. 21
Edina, Minn., Oct. 8, 2008 -- The Edina City Council will hold a public
hearing on the City’s proposed 2009 budget at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The proposed budget anticipates a 7 percent increase in the City’s tax
levy. The preliminary expenditure budget, including all debt levies, is $33
million. The increases are due to increases in the General Fund and debt
service levies.
In addition to increases in personnel costs, the budget also includes
amounts needed to repay bonds issued for equipment and the relocation of the
Public Works facility. Significant increases in heat and fuel, salt and
asphalt are also anticipated.
Truth-in-taxation hearings and budget adoption are scheduled for
December.
