Energy & Environment Commission to sponsor Home Energy Audit workshop
Edina, Minn., Sept. 23, 2008 -- As winter draws near and temperatures
drop, many residents of Edina are cleaning and winterizing their homes by
doing such things as changing out the screen porch door for glass. While you
might think that you’re doing everything possible to save energy and keep
your house better insulated, you might be overlooking something.
The Energy & Environment Commission on Monday, Oct. 6, will sponsor the
workshop “Home Energy Audits and Winterizing your Home,” featuring Home
Energy Auditor Erik Lindberg. According to Lindberg, a home energy audit “is
a way of identifying ways to reduce energy waste.” Demonstrations on proper
home-sealing techniques will be presented and Lindberg will lead a full
discussion on different types of effective materials that can replace ones
already in your home like door sweeps and weather stripping.
“We’ll talk about different analytical tools to help understand your
energy bills and techniques for testing and identifying energy saving
opportunities,” said Lindberg.
The presentation will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in room 350 of the Edina
Community Center, 5701 Normandale Road. Think you’ve got the most energy
efficient/winterized house in the City? Please come to share your
experiences and ideas with your neighbors. “You can always help encourage
other people,” said Lindberg.
