In order to promote the physical and mental health of residents, Edina's
Health Department investigates and controls communicable diseases,
regulates privately and publicly owned dwellings for the purpose of
sanitation and public health, and protects the safety of the people. Homes in
Edina must meet minimum standards for lights, ventilation and heating,
safety from fire, amount of space for human occupancy, and safe and
sanitary maintenance.
