The City Council directed the preparation of a noise impact study along
Minnesota Highway 62, Minnesota Highway 100 and U.S. Highway 169 in the
fall of 1998. The Freeway Noise Mitigation Study addresses the technical
and financial feasibility of constructing noise walls, other forms of
noise abatements and visual screening. Potential funding sources were
evaluated and conceptual designs developed as part of the one-year study,
which was conducted with involvement of the affected residential
neighborhoods. The results of the study will be used to seek funding and
negotiate with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for the
provision of freeway noise abatement along existing highways.
